Hipsters and their Dwell Magazine

Dwell Magazine is great. They feature modern, green, and cutting edge architecture and interior design. I love to look through all of their photographs and dream about being able to own a place like that someday. This morning while sipping my latte and surfing through blogs I was highly amused at the blog Unhappy Hipster. They poke fun at all the the photos in Dwell. Take a minute and scroll through this photography site with witty commentary. As they say, "it's lonely in the modern world."

Easy, Healthy, and Gourmet Meal

I love to cook but I hate cleaning up afterwards. This simple recipe creates about zero mess but tastes like you were slaving away in the kitchen: Sake Sea Bass in Parchment. I have made this twice for dinner date night so far and it has already been requested again! You simply mix the sauce, spoon over a sea bass fillet and wrap up in parchment paper and throw in the oven. I serve it with instant jasmine rice and steamed baby bok choy. Also you can then sip the remaining sake with your dinner!

The only addition to the recipe would be a splash of fresh lemon juice to add a bit more flavor. Another tip, if sea bass is too expensive at the market that day replace it with halibut which is a cheaper and tasty alternative. My apologies to those back home, I don't think some of these ingredients are available at Kessler's.

Best Wedding Video Ever

Honestly, I am not a huge romantic nor have I put much thought to my dream wedding. I stumbled upon this video on The Frisky.

Unlike any stale and amateur wedding video this plays like a music video or movie preview. Enjoy! The wedding video of model/actress Roselyn Sanchez and model/actor Eric Winter is another story altogether. Held at a historic fort in San Juan, Puerto Rico, it is probably one of the most glamorous and romantic weddings I’ve ever seen, and the video is a really sweet and gorgeous homage to the couple, their union, and their guests.

Seared Halibut

Seared Halibut, originally uploaded by LoStephenson.

Last night was date night and this recipe was a hit! I love cooking but usually I'm a bit slow at it and create quite the disaster in the kitchen afterwards of spills and twenty dirty dishes. So I browsed through Epicurious.com for a fresh, quick, and easy fish dish that would be great for two, lo and behold: Seared Halibut with Haricots Verts, Scallions, and White Wine Sauce.

It took about twenty minutes to make overall and you only need two saucepans! Plus the best part is that the recipe calls for a 1/4 cup of a dry white wine for the sauce so you have plenty left over to drink with your meal as well. I used a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which worked great for the sauce and as a pairing to the halibut dish. One last tip, add basmati rice on the dish and then lay the green beans and halibut on top to add more substance to the dish! Enjoy!!

19 Things a Man Should Never Say (or a woman for that matter...)

19 Things a Man Should Never Say

I couldn't agree with this article more, I just had to post it! I don't know what it is with men lately but more and more of them are throwing in stupid slang words that make me less and less attracted to them. Esquire did men a favor by publishing this great article to make them aware of the fact that saying these things do not make them "hip."

Fall has finally arrived in Arizona!

Oh I love you Fall! You allow me to not get crazy looks from the Starbucks barista when I order my vanilla latte extra hot, you let me finally wear all those lovely sweaters and scarves that have accumulated dust on them, and you force me to now wear close-toed shoes so it's okay if my pedicure is chipped. Oh fall you make life so much easier for us all, thank you!!

The temperatures in Phoenix have finally dipped a bit into the 60s and 50s even if its only for a couple days, it is still a welcome change.
